Becoming Warriors: Turning word-wounds into sacred aspects of our lives.

This week we’re connecting with the Goddess Freya. She’s a warrior goddess that knows how to use the body to create peace and transform “word wounds” into sacred aspects of our bodies. And on that note...

This astrological year we are in for a wild ride! The forecast tells us that every planet will be experiencing retrograde, which means a lot of “get up and go” and a lot of “slam on the breaks”! When we experience those moments, all of our momenta gets halted immediately, it can be devastating, and if not traumatic, extremely exhausting. As a result, it creates a lot of stress for our bodies to process. And for me recently, I WAS SOOOO DYSFUNCTIONAL!

This week, I experienced one such halt in the form of a direct threat to my safety. The experience felt catastrophic (let’s be clear, for all intents and purposes, I was totally ok). But following the incident, I couldn’t function or think straight. It was like I was suddenly functioning in an alternative reality and it took me the rest of the day and a lot of effort to rebound.

Threats trigger us! But what we often don’t realize is that non-physical threats can be equally as traumatic. Anything from someone cutting you off in traffic to a perceived negative tone of voice on an email or text can throw our system into high alert. So while logically I understood what was happening (my fight or flight mechanism went into overdrive), I was amazed by actually how long it took my physical body to recover.

But here’s the thing this intense experience and subsequent energy body repairs made me realize; we carry the memories of the emotions in our cells, which in turn creates an invisible roadmap of all of the threats we’ve experienced. And if our body has enough “emotional” threats stored throughout, it doesn’t feel confident, and we don’t feel confident.

Fortunately, I had the opportunity the following day to speak to the parties involved that contributed to my threatening experience. This ability to take action continued to help me move through the challenge.

We must take challenges, our experiences, and our knowledge and use them to help mold us, give us strength, and find inner peace. This is what Freya demonstrates to us through her own personal challenges. Let us work together to overcome our experiences, turn word-wounds into emotional strength, courage, and the ability to lift ourselves up and move forward with our lives.
